Performing Assyrian-ness

20 November 2022 · Online Screening

Performing Assyrian-ness is a lecture-recital film that intertwines storytelling, music research and classical music performance to explore the small but growing genre of Assyrian Art music.

Accompanied by new visual art from US-based artist Dicky Bahto, Lolita will perform three Assyrian works for piano, including “Goodi” by composer Rasson Bet-Yonan.

Audiences of all backgrounds and locations are encouraged to register for the online premiere.

In particular, Lolita invites Assyrians around the globe to join an open conversation about the future of Assyrian Art music. It’s an open conversation in every sense – viewers are invited to reflect and share their thoughts during the online screening.
